Disposable Diaper Liners

Disposable diaper liners are what made my husband a little less freaked out by the prospect of putting baby-poo in our washing machine.  What they basically are is a layer of material, much like toilet paper or paper towels that catches the fecal matter and is then either flushed or tossed in the garbage.  While they do add a bit to landfills, its not HALF as much as one diaper, and they’re more biodegradable.

If you get the flushable kind, be sure to let them sit in the toilet for a bit before flushing.  And DON”T use them if you have a septic system.  They tend to clog those up pretty quickly and you don’t want diaper mess all over your yard.  They’re not quite as bad as say, flushing tampons, but still.  Beware!  Some, Like Bummis Liners come in a roll much like toilet paper which makes getting to them really easy!

Some people swear by these and claim they wouldn’t use cloth diapers without them.  But many people have started out using these and then, after a few months, decided that they weren’t worth it and just used the diaper as is, but to each his/her own.
