There is much debate on how many cloth diapers you will actually need to start diapering your child.  But the general consensus is that you’ll need about two days worth.

Flats, Prefolds, Fitted, Contour

• 24 diapers
• 2-4 covers (if you’re using a wipe-reuse type)
• 15-20 pins or 2-4 snappis (both are easily lost)

Pockets, Fitted

• 24 diapers
• 24 inserts/doublers

AIO-AI2

• 24 diapers (with inserts for AI2)

Other accessories for all types of diapering

• Diaper Pail
• Wet bag *
• Diaper sprayer *
• Disposable diaper liners*
• 24-36 Baby wipes
• Wipe solution

You will also need detergent for cleaning them but that I’d suggest getting just a little at a time because you don’t know if your baby will be allergic to it or not.  You can also make your own detergent (recipe in this section).
