This was originally going to be just “Types of Diapers” but then I realized we needed WAY more than that
There will still be an overview of ALL the different types of diapers
- Flats (need cover)
- Prefolds (need cover)
- Types of Covers

- Contour
- Training Pants
- Brands
- Hybrid Diapers (half sposie, half reusable)
Other Misc. Jargon
- – Fitted – Shaped to the baby’s body and has elastic to make a better fit
- – Inserts – .Something put inside the diaper to catch urine or feces.- The thing that goes inside a Pocket Diaper
- – Contour- Cut to fit a baby’s body
- – Doublers- Pieces of material used to “double” the absorption quality of a diaper
- – Soakers – One of two things, Either the insert you put inside a Pocket Diaper OR a type of cover that is absorbent. Usually Wool
- – HE Washer- High Efficiency Washer
- – Stripping – Running diapers through several washes in Straight HOT water to help eliminate build-up (from detergent or fabric softener) and make diapers absorbent again
- – Prepping – the Pre-wash that some fabrics need to go through before being used on a baby. Some people prep fabrics before sewing, some people prep diapers before applying to a child. Both are “prepping”
- – Pins – A safety-pin type of a pin, Diaper pins generally have a locking mechanism to prevent a baby from removing them and hurting themselves or removing the whole diaper.
- – Snappi- a Three sided stretchy piece of material with velcro-like hooks that attaches to a flat or prefold diaper to fasten it. They also work for contour and fitted diapers.
